Melt Pressure Transducer & Transmitter Manufacturing

During manufacturing, the process pressure is used to deflect the measuring diaphragm; this pressure is then transferred through a small capillary system to a second diaphragm located in the electronics housing (or can). A strain gauge mounted on the second diaphragm measures the deflection and generates an electrical signal proportional to the process pressure.

An internal Rcal transistor mounted on the strain gauge allows for easy calibration of 80% of full scale. Our melt pressure transducers require a special melt pressure indicator; this indicator provides 6-wire strain gauge input and provides both zero and 80% calibration.

Melt Pressure Transducer & Transmitter Options

Standard Melt Pressure Transducers and Standard Melt Pressure Transmitters are used when a simple reliable sensor is required. The mercury filled capillary technology has been used for over 50 years and is still the industry standard. These melt pressure transducers can safely operate up to 400°C (750°F) with good temperature stability. They should not be used for food, medical, or pharmaceutical application.
NaK Fill Melt Pressure Transducers and NaK Fill Melt Pressure Transmitters are used when either high temperature capabilities (538°C/1,000°F) or a GRAF (generally regarded as safe) product is required in food, medical, or pharmaceutical application.
FDA Oil Fill Melt Pressure Transducers and FDA Oil Fill Melt Pressure Transmitters are used for low temperature applications (300°C/570°F) or where FDA-approval is required in food, medical, or pharmaceutical application.
